Banking

One of the most important roles in banking is that of the bank manager. This person plays a key role in determining the success of the branch they are responsible for. They are responsible for the hiring and dismissal of staff members, as well as their disciplining and counselling. The bank manager will be expected to generate sales leads and increase revenue by regularly signing new contracts with local businesses to keep the deposit base growing.
The daily tasks of the job holder include management of staff members and overseeing operations and sales. They will manage bank tellers, who deal with customer deposits, and authorize credit and loan applications. As such, the job holder is expected to possess the ability to multi-task and problem-solve, and to adopt the role of leader.
As a rule of thumb, persons in banking management will be expected to possess a bachelor’s degree in addition to two years’ experience in a managerial role. The average salary for this role is between C
$50,000 and C
$70,000, with an additional annual bonus of up to C
$10,000.
