The key role of a cashier is to process customer sales in a timely and accurate manner, using various tools, including cash registers and credit card machines. It is important for people in this position to also use outstanding customer service skills, and maintain an awareness of company protocol and promotions at all times.
A cashier must be able to communicate effectively with customers and also colleagues, supervisors and managers. It is important that a worker in this position has quick thinking skills, as problems often arise on the job. Having excellent mental computations skills is not an essential requirement, but will help candidates.
Cashier positions are usually lower, entry level jobs, so applicants needn’t possess a degree to work in this field. However, a high school certificate or equivalent diploma is usually required, unless candidates are still studying when applying for the job. Most people in this job are part-time workers, and yearly salaries fall between C
