Cognos
Cognos was a software development company located in Ottawa that garnered an enviable reputation for the quality and versatility of its performance management and business intelligence systems. Since its 2008 acquisition by IBM the products are utilised more than ever. As a result, IT professionals conversant with the systems are in high demand.
In 2010, IBM introduced the innovative Cognos 10 software which allows end users to access business partnership and analytical information in a real-time environment. Developers and programmers working on this software are expected to be able to adapt it for use on the internet or with mobile devices such as iPads or Blackberries.
Successful job applicants also need to be proficient with the older 8.3 BI and products such as Event Studio and Report Studio as well as the implementation of Application Development Tools including PowerHouse 4GL.
As the software is mostly utilized in medium-sized and large businesses, positions are usually in the major cities such as Montreal and Toronto. Professionals employed in developing the software receive median salaries of C
