Financial Analyst

Those working as a financial analyst, often called a CFA, provide expert advice to their employers to enable them to make sound and valuable decisions regarding investments. These individuals spend much of their time analyzing market data via spreadsheets and statistical software in order to prepare reports and presentations for investors.
Those working in this position can be employed in a number of organizations including banks, financial firms, government agencies and insurance companies. The exact role of each depends on the type of employer and where they will be focusing their investments; some will focus on stocks and bonds while others may work with currencies or pension funds.
Each financial analyst in Canada should obtain a CFA professional certification, which involves passing three special examinations. In order to begin the certification process, an individual must have acquired a university degree or may be in their final year of the program. They must also have at least four years experience in a qualified profession. Salaries for these skilled individuals in Canada start at around C
$40,000 and can exceed C
$70,000 per year.
