Interior Designer
Interior designers are required to estimate the cost of projects and to indicate what the budget will be spent on. They are required to know building regulations and codes, and to design building interiors that match their client’s needs. They need to create safe and healthy environments using ergonomics.
Interior designers should be knowledgeable about different materials and be able to work with other team members. They should have knowledge of Computer Aided Drafting, or CAD. Educational requirements include the completion of a college course or technical training.
Applicants should have a National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) and membership with an interior design association. They should have specialization in interior design or architectural design. It is possible for qualified persons to open up their own company or work for a firm.
Candidates should possess good interpersonal skills and be able to supervise staff. They should have basic security clearance and a valid driver’s license so that they can travel to different sites. The salary for this job ranges from C
$29,000 to C
$40,000 per year.
