Fundraising provides the life blood for charities in the UK. People seeking donations on behalf of organisations such as the Red Cross, Oxfam and the British Heart Foundation are admired for the selfless way they have devoted themselves to worthy causes.
While most charities rely on volunteers to work in their high street sales outlets or raise funds on the streets, there are a lot of full-time salaried positions and part-time paid jobs. Fundraising individuals are expected to be able to persuade members of the public to give generously to deserving charities.
