A marketing research analyst plays a key role in helping a marketing team to make important branding and promotion decisions. They do so, by gathering data relevant to specific products and target markets. They evaluate demographics, price, strategies used by the competition, and potential distribution channels and present this data to marketing executives.
The day-to-day responsibilities of a marketing research professional include, developing research plans, meeting with clients to determine goals and strategies, and collecting data from the target market group regarding specific demographics such as age, gender and income.
The ideal candidate will posses excellent analytical skills, the ability to interpret and evaluate data and excellent attention to detail. It is also important that the candidate is competent at using Microsoft Office tools to analyse and present data to key individuals.
Most companies would expect the applicant to have a Bachelors degree in statistics, market research or another related field. The salary range for this position is C
$35,000 - C
$72,000.
