Payroll

Someone employed in the payroll department of an organisation must be adept with numbers and pay a keen attention to detail. Often payroll departments train new employees in their individual computerised payroll system. A BTEC certificate to qualify the individual as a payroll technician should improve the chances of employment and warrant a higher salary.
The duties for this job are centered around making sure the salaries of a company's employees are paid in full and on time, with the appropriate amount of tax deducted. The employee will have to check the salaries are correct, accounting for time taken off work due to illness or annual/maternity/paternity leave.
The position also requires payroll workers to process the pay details for new employees and organize documents for those leaving the company. Added to this, the role often encompasses administrating the company pension scheme. Payroll administrators should expect to make between C
$30,000 and C
$50,000 per year.
