Quality Assurance

Quality assurance inspectors need to be highly organised and have a trained eye for detail. It is their job to ensure that all products leaving the manufacturer have been produced to an exemplary standard. An inspector will be involved at every stage of the production process and is required to know everything about how a product is supposed to function. They are also in charge of any sampling, testing, inspecting and sorting.
Depending on the type of manufacturing, inspectors may be expected to use a range of senses, including smell and taste. Working in quality assurance often requires a degree in a related field, such as technology, marketing or engineering. Additional training will be provided on the job in most cases.
Interpersonal skills are important, as quality assurance inspectors will work with everyone from the production line up to senior management. They are also often expected to work closely with marketing and sales divisions to explain the technical details of a product. Salaries depend on the type of goods being manufactured, but average at around C
$75,000 per year.
