Supervisor

The role of a supervisor demands an individual with excellent interpersonal and management skills, and often he or she must have significant experience within a particular industry as well. This is a common post throughout every industry in the business world as well as in schools, government agencies and other public sector organizations.
Specific duties for each supervisory position will vary according to the industry, size of the employer and numerous other factors. However, all job holders will be required to oversee a number of personnel, help them with carrying out daily tasks, report to upper management and implement disciplinary action when needed. Additional common duties include training new staff members, responding to inquiries and various ad hoc tasks.
Salary figures for supervisor posts in Canadian organizations vary substantially and depend on the job holder’s years of experience, the industry and the size of the employer. Those in manufacturing or logistics typically stand to make anywhere from about
$35,000 to
$70,000 per annum; in accounting and financial departments, figures range from about
$40,000 to
$70,000 per annum, whilst positions in healthcare typically fetch between
$55,000 and
$90,000 per annum.
