Nowadays, virtually all businesses depend on information technology and computers to succeed. This is why a systems analyst, who uses the tools of information technology to help businesses reach their full potential, is employed at a far faster rate than most professions.
A systems analyst comes up with new ways to use already existing systems and technology. Systems for engineering, finance, business, science, and accounting are just some of the specialties of this thriving career.
Each assignment in this profession starts with a consultation with managers and users throughout an organization to determine which hardware and software best suit their needs. Analysts usually plan computer systems then experiment with different plans before selecting software and operating systems.
Instructing computer programmers on how to get computers to work with each other and running system tests are other important parts of this job. Although most employers prefer to hire persons with university degrees, formal education is not necessary for those with enough relevant work experience to succeed.
The average entry level systems analyst salary is around C
$43,000, but senior level positions can command over C
$86,000. Although most of the work occurs in office settings, growing amounts of analysts are telecommuting from their own homes.
