Technical Writer
A technical writer usually has experience and expertise within a specific area; their role is primarily to re-write scientific or technical writing into simple, more digestible language for the average person. They are employed by a wide range of businesses, such as engineering companies, medical equipment manufacturers, and publishers for both books and magazines.
The role of a technical writer varies greatly, ranging from writing instruction manuals for computers to devising maintenance manuals for technicians working with complex machinery and equipment. In addition to this, they write online and for scientific journals in subjects such as medicine and chemistry.
A successful candidate will have experience writing about their specific area of expertise, such as engineering or computing. Close attention to detail, precision and creativity is essential for this position.
In general, most writers will have at least a Bachelors degree in their field along with experience in writing or journalism. The average salary for this position is C
