Travel Agent

The job of travel agent involves a combination of sales of flights, holidays and associated requirements such as travel insurance, as well as a fair amount of troubleshooting and problem solving. Excellent communications skills are required, as the travel agent will need to help customers decide on which holiday or flight best suits their requirements or preferences.
A working knowledge of resorts, hotels and other services is part of the in-house training given to successful entry-level applicants. The job is popular, as travel bonuses and opportunities often form part of the salary.
Daily tasks will be determined by the level of the job, with managers responsible for business strategies as well as the budgetary requirements and ensuring the team gives good customer service. Less senior positions involve actual selling of travel packages, the booking of flights, car hire and insurance and the initial dealing with any complaints.
Salaries range between C
$20,000 at entry level and up to C
$41,000 in a managerial position. Commission may be paid as an extra.
